L’entrée était à l’angle de la route du Chasseur et de l’avenue des Cerisiers, sous un grand Tilleul. Une boule de cuivre trônait au bout de la main courante, légèrement poisseuse, qu’on devait suivre jusqu’au premier étage. Toujours cette odeur douce-amère qu’on identifie plus tard comme étant celle des vieux. Derrière la porte, une longue salle de bain jaune qu’ils utilisaient peu. A la cuisine il y avait un évier en grès, des beugnes sur l’émail du fourneau, et dans la grande armoire du miel cristallisé. Pas grand chose sur le balcon, quelques pots sur un sol rêche devenu moussu,  les plantes grasses des marches en montagnes, un peu poussives. Le long du couloir, il y avait « la petite chambre », sombre et trop remplie, qu’éclairait mal un abat-jour à franges, et puis surtout le violon. Les lits étaient immenses dans leur chambre à coucher, juste en face, accolés mais séparés, moelleux comme on ne les fait plus, et de chaque côté, vraiment dégueu, deux pots de chambre dans les tables de nuits. Une gentille silhouette à chignon cherche des douceurs dans le linge de l’armoire vaudoise, des noisettes, amandes, et oranges confites enrobées de chocolat noir, blanc, et au lait, les meilleures. Mais une petite poignée seulement, qu’il faut aller les manger à la chambre, qui était en fait le salon. Tout là-bas, avec son morbier arrêté, une collection de pierres sur un napperon, et des sourcils de hiboux au dessus d’un livre, au bout de la table et du canapé rouge. Remplie de papiers du sol au plafond, la pièce adjacente n’avait bizarrement pas de nom, mais c’est là qu’étaient précieusement gardées Perlette goutte d’eau, Marlaguette et La chèvre de Monsieur Seguin, sous un papier calque qui floutait les dessins de leurs couvertures.

Break up the text blocks on both sides of the mirror; don’t put it all in one place. When you give directions, do it step by step or number the steps involved, not in one paragraph. Make simple illustrations of where to stand and put your head or your hand to interact with the mirror. Try it out with 10 different people and see what happens. Good luck!
